Hey forum members, i hope you're all are well and having a good time.

It has got to that point in my life where i need to start thinking of where my life is going and what career I'm going to take. This is a very hard period of time, because the career i choose now will effect what jobs i will be doing in the future.

At the moment I'm thinking about doing Network Management & Network security foundation degrees then an honors in Network management. I've looked around and the average pay for an Network Manager is between £25,000 and £30,000 P/A. My personal career objective is that i want to be earning £40,000 P/A.

So what do i do now? This is something im now going to plan, again.

This is a question we should all be asking and planning for
What is your career objectives? what do you want to be doing in the future? how are you going to achieve this?

All these questions should be already answered in your head. If not.. plan early be ahead of the game.

So, after all that.. whats your career going to be?

How to Live Stream with Ustream.tv

Lots of people live stream with ustream.tv. Live streaming can do lots of good things. This tutorial will show you how to set up the live stream.

For this tutorial you will need a microphone and webcam. If you want to record your computer desktop you can use a program called VH Multi Cam Studio. With the program you will not need a webcam but you will still need a microphone.

To start go to Ustream.tv and click sign up (or sign in if you already have an account). If you already have an account you can skip the rest of this paragraph. Once the box pops out you will need to enter in your information. After you are done click submit. After you press submit there will be another page to enter the rest of the information in. Enter in that information and then click submit again.

When you are done signing up or logging in click on the my shows link at the top. Put in the name you want the show to be in the box and then click save my show. Then there will be a window with a bunch of tabs that you can go through. The tabs let you customize settings for your show like adding an icon, adding tags, adding a description, changing the design, adding a schedule, and other things. On the sidebar there is some information about your show. There is your show’s URL, embedded code, and some other things like that.

When you want to broadcast your show you can click broadcast show on the your shows page. You can enter in twitter information and then a category. After that a pop up window will let you start and stop the stream. You will need to allow the flash player to access your webcam and microphone for this to work. It is pretty simple once you get into the pop up window. All you really need is on the main window and the other settings are under the tabs. All you really need to do is select what webcam and microphone you want to use and then click start broadcast. To stop the broadcast click stop broadcast. You can also record videos live with ustream by clicking start record and then click stop record when you are done.

To view your show you can click go to show URL on the your shows page. It should show the stream, chat, and social stream.

If you want to record your desktop like I do you can use a free program called VH Multi Cam Studio. If you have the program installed it should start up automatically when ustream started. If it did not then you can re open it. The program is pretty simple to understand. There are some presets that you can switch through at the bottom. Pick one and then click file, then add camera, then UScreenCapture. All of the settings with the capture can be changed by right clicking on the box. You can adjust what to record, frame rates, and other things like that. To focus the recording on the stream drag the box around the window. VH Multi Cam Studio can do other things like connect multiple webcams, add pictures, and lots of other things like that. This program is free, you can get it by searching Google for its name.

How to Send Text Messages Through Email

When you send a text message to someone it really is an email. Each cell phone carrier gives a special email address to each phone number. What this means is that you can send text messages from your email account to someones phone. This is a video tutorial on how to do this for free.

The first thing to know is that each cell phone carrier has the phones number including area code and then the domain the cell phone carrier uses for the text messages. Below is a list of the carrier and the domain to send the email to. The list includes the popular North American cell phone carriers, if your carrier is not on the list you can look it up or ask the carrier.

Verizon Wireless: @vtext.com
T-Mobile: @tmomail.net
Sprint: @messaging.sprintpcs.com
Cingular: @cingularme.com
AT&T: @mobile.att.net
Cellular One: @mobile.celloneusa.com
Comcast: @comcastpcs.textmsg.com
Telus: @msg.telus.com
Fido: @fido.ca
Bell Mobility Canada: @txt.bell.ca
Bell Atlantic: @message.bam.com
Rogers Wireless: @pcs.rogers.com

So for an example if you want to send a text message to someone with the phone number of 1111111111 on Verizon Wireless then you would send it to 1111111111@vtext.com. This is a useful thing to do if you do not have your phone and you want to send a text message to a friend.

Make an IP Logging PHP Script

PHP is my second favorite programing language. Sometimes you might have a spammer you want to block on your website, this script can help you get the spammers IP and log it so you can block them.

The first thing you will need to do is start the PHP script so the browser knows what is happening. To do this type in “<?php”. You can return after that but it is not needed.

Now you will need to get the IP from the user and set it as a string. To do this type in “$IP = $_SERVER["REMOTE_ADDR"];”. That sets the string IP as the users IP address. Remember that PHP is case sensitive so if you type it in later in lowercase it will not work.

Now you will need to set what file to write the IP to so you will need to type in “$file = “iplog.txt”;”. That file can be anything you want but I will make it simple and have it be iplog.txt. That will set the string file to the file where the IP addresses will be logged. Now you will need to open/create that file. To do that type in “$txtfile = fopen($file, “a”);”. Now that you have both the file ready and the IP ready you will need to write it to the file.

To do that type in “fwrite($txtfile, $IP);”. Make a new line after that and type in “fwrite($txtfile, ” “);. All that does is writes the string IP to the string (Which was defined as a file) txtfile. After it writes the IP it makes a new line so you can read the addresses. Now you will need to close the file that you wrote too, type in “fclose($txtfile);”.

Now you can echo out a message to the user if you want, like you can say what their IP is. You do not have to do this though. To do that type in “$message = “Your IP has been logged, it is : “;” then you can echo out the IP so the sentence is complete “echo $message; echo $IP;”. That will set the string of message to say a message and then the next line sends the message out to the browser so it will be displayed. Now all you need to do is end the PHP code by typing in “?>”.

That is all you need to do for this tutorial, if you have any suggestions or need help you can comment on this post or email me at:cusinndzl@zlstudios.net

So, I came up with this idea to create this kind of site because there are not many sites like this, and they do really good. And they actually get funded! :O

Anyway, the plan would be to to create a search like thing, but the search is powered by an actual human. After they enter the question or whatever into the search box they would then be transferred to a new screen where you're then connected to one of the people who are "verified" searchers, there would be a chat box on the left for the two to talk. And in the middle would be where the verified searcher would put the best results.

Of course, most of this would be using ajax and would require a lot of coding, and I think this is a really great idea and would like some help because I can't do this myself. In-fact, if the site starts making money you will be in for some of the profit. Reply.

Yes it sounds simple and probably is.. xD
I have a index page, and I want the page title to be dynamic so if I was on a new page it would say in the title "News - News article title".

I don't want this to be preset like an array, such as:

    PHP

array ('home' => 'Home Page'....)

I've tried the OOP aproach, I failed and scrapped the code xD So if anyone has any suggestions on how to do this would be awesome (Cookies/Sessions I would prefer not, unless thats how its done )
Like this forum, what ever page you click on the title changes according to the page.

If this could get solved, we have already coded a feature for the CCP

So, I go and click through the forum to figure out what I haven't read and there isn't anything, so I go back to the home page flustered to realize that it IS now read.

The problem: you have to go to the forum that the unread post was in in order for the forums to mark you as read for that forum.
